Playground with the «Golden Ratio» Play Complex for Moscow’s Arterial Highways

Client: City of Moscow (Comprehensive Arterial Highway Improvement Program)

Objective: create a modern recreational hub as part of the landscaping effort along the capital’s major transit arteries. The project required effectively separating pedestrian transit flows from recreational visitors while integrating a new flagship play complex within a strictly limited footprint and challenging, steeply sloped terrain.

Solution: this playground became the inaugural site for the custom conceptual «Golden Ratio» complex. Its architecture is based on harmonious mathematical proportions, brought to life through a complex curved structure featuring rope bridges, a tube slide, built-in trampolines, and interactive educational panels.

Executing this project required extensive engineering and manufacturing preparation:

• Factory Prefabrication & Logistics: to eliminate on-site fitting and welding, the complex 3D structure was engineered as a fully modular system, with part dimensions precisely calculated to fit spray-painting booths.

• High-Precision Geometry: frame components were welded on specialized equipment using custom jigs. Complex bending of load-bearing pipes was executed according to specialized technical drawings, followed by a trial pre-assembly at the manufacturing plant.

• Balancing Design & Safety: engineers and designers successfully balanced the original artistic concept with strict national safety standards (GOST). Support posts were subtly repositioned, and concealed protective netting and guardrails were integrated without compromising the visual concept.

• Terrain Adaptation: the steep elevation drop across the site was successfully neutralized through precise calculated leveling of the complex’s structural supports.

Result: an expressive, high-capacity recreational area was established along the major highway. The project demonstrated how a complex architectural art concept can be efficiently adapted into safe, high-tech manufactured equipment without sacrificing quality or delaying installation schedules.
