Physics Scientific Playground in Izhorsky Square
Client: City of Moscow.
Objective: To create a playground in Izhorsky Square that combines active play with an introduction to physics. The square is located near residential buildings, a school, and a children’s clinic, so the new space needed to strengthen the local amenities available to families with children.
Solution: The play structures were complemented by educational modules from the Physics series. Each experiment is based on a simple action: children change the conditions, observe the outcome, formulate a hypothesis, and test it. This hands-on approach makes the laws of physics easier to understand and integrates experiments naturally into the overall play experience.
The scientific content of the modules was approved by researchers from Lomonosov Moscow State University. Each module features a QR code linking to educational materials on Nauka.rf, where children and parents can learn more about the principles behind the experiments and their applications in technology, nature, and everyday life.
Result: Izhorsky Square now features a Physics science playground where physical activity and play are combined with educational experiments. The playground introduces children to physics through an engaging, play-based format, while the QR-linked materials allow them to continue exploring beyond the site.
