Pulley block

The Block and Tackle module shows children how a pulley system makes it easier to lift a heavy load. It contains two identical 50 kg weights. One is lifted with a standard winch, while the other is lifted using a system of pulleys. Children can try both methods and compare the effort required. The pulleys reduce the effort needed, but the rope must travel farther. To raise the second weight to the same height, children need to pull four times as much rope.
