Playground

Client: Department of Capital Repair of the City of Moscow (DKR).

Objective: To create a large play installation with a wide range of activities in a compact courtyard while keeping the project within the allocated budget. The limited site area left little scope for horizontal expansion.

Solution: The play routes were developed vertically and distributed across several levels of the structure. The towers were connected by bridges, while an enclosed spiral tube slide provided a long descent. This layout expanded the range of play activities while keeping the footprint compact.

For the panel elements, the client was advised to use HPL instead of plywood. HPL panels are resistant to moisture, temperature fluctuations and intensive use, which makes them better suited to playground equipment in an urban courtyard. This choice also kept the project within budget.

Result: The compact site now accommodates a large structure that makes full use of both horizontal and vertical space. The limited footprint did not reduce the range of play activities, while the HPL panels increased the equipment’s durability.
