Play Cluster with the «Dominanta» Complex as Part of Moscow’s Arterial Highway Improvement Program

Client: City of Moscow (as part of the comprehensive arterial highway improvement program).

Objective: create a large-scale, high-capacity recreational hub along a major transit artery. The project required installing equipment engineered to withstand extreme vandal and operational loads, as well as designing comfortable street furniture for urban relaxation.

Solution: the focal point of this landmark playground is «Dominanta"—one of Leber’s largest play complexes, built for high-intensity usage. Due to the high-foot-traffic nature of the transit area, all equipment was chosen for its ultra-durable, vandal-resistant properties.

In parallel, a series of three custom concrete bench designs was engineered for the entire arterial highway. During prototype testing, the bench dimensions were significantly scaled up to maximize seating comfort. The project was successfully defended at Moscow’s Department of Capital Repair (DKR), launching a production run of 200 units, a portion of which was allocated to this location. Architectural concrete and solid larch wood were selected as key materials, delivering maximum structural strength, longevity, and resistance to harsh weather conditions.

Result: a modern, vandal-proof recreational space was created along the transit highway. Combining a massive play complex with custom concrete furniture enabled the site to comfortably handle heavy pedestrian flows while guaranteeing a multi-year service life.
