Lighthouses help mariners navigate in space, for example, by telling them if the shore is far away. Their clue is light. Different light bulbs use different amounts of energy. Test how much time and energy it takes for the bulbs to light up. The longer you twist the knob, the more energy will be produced.
The glow of a light bulb is the luminous flux.
How does it appear?
Electricity is converted in an incandescent bulb into heat energy and light output.
In an incandescent lamp, a tungsten coil is installed in the vacuum medium of the bulb. When electric current flows through the spiral, it heats up and part of the energy is spent on heat and part is converted into light energy in the form of light flux. The amount of energy a light bulb consumes is determined by the resistance of the tungsten coil. The exact relationship depends on the conditions of the electrical grid. In the case of household sockets, connecting a single bulb has almost no effect on the voltage inside them — it is still 220 volts. In this case, the lower the resistance, the more current flows through the tungsten filament and, accordingly, the greater the power of the bulb.
There are different types of light bulbs: halogen, fluorescent, LED, incandescent. These light sources consume different amounts of energy.
For example, LED bulbs are considered to be the most energy efficient. To accurately determine the energy consumption of a light bulb, you need to know its type and wattage, they are indicated on the packaging. And then multiply this value by the number of hours of operation.
There are also fluorescent lamps. They are a bulb that is filled with an inert gas. A gas discharge breakdown occurs in this bulb. This results in ultraviolet light, which is't seen by human's eyes. But the phosphor or luminescent coating on the bulb transforms this glow. And then we see the familiar light. Fluorescent lamps are said to be energy efficient. With the same luminous flux, such bulbs are five times more economical than traditional bulbs.
Another economical type of lamp is LED lamps. They consume 7 times less energy with the same luminous flux.
Inside the lamp there are LEDs, which are connected in series, each of them operates from direct current. The device has a special current converter, which receives alternating current from the household network, and gives the diodes a direct current of the required voltage. The first advantage of LEDs — high light output. They have a homogeneous glow, they have a directional light flux, minimal light loss from the luminaire to the illuminated object.
